The following steps are a circular process. Step five will feed back into step one.

Step 1 (Preliminary and initial assessment)

Tutor and learner discuss and identify (or revise) learner's personal learning goals

Step 2

Tutor and learner agree on a learning plan, aimed at achieving the goals

Step 3

Tutor adjusts scheme of work and session plans to accommodate learner

Step 4

Learner embarks on a programme of study

Step 5 (Formative and summative assessment)

Tutor and learner review learner's progress
