Relevance

Teaching and learning that learners find relevant is underpinned by a sound understanding of who your learners are and what attracts them to learning. To achieve this, you will need to understand:

  • the community (or communities) you serve, and the challenges and opportunities they face
  • your learners as a group: what brings them together, the interests they have in common and where their differences lie; and
  • who your learners are as individuals: their personal learning goals and any learning support needs they may have.

Talk to your Subject Learning Coach about how you can use this knowledge and understanding to shape:

  • the way you plan and design your courses
  • your session plans
  • the teaching methods you use and the learning activities you devise
  • your strategies for assessment and evaluation; and
  • the way you incorporate learning support arrangements into sessions.
