Using visual images to enhance learning

Visual images are a useful resource in Sport and fitness sessions. They can be used to emphasise key teaching points and can help illustrate how people of all ages and backgrounds can work actively towards a state of fitness and well-being. This section includes the following:

  • Some suggestions on how to use visual images to:
    • help make learning interesting and memorable
    • encourage learners to practise at home
    • help assess learners' understanding
    • make capturing progress and achievement an attractive process; and
    • develop learners' language skills.
  • A set of yoga practice cards that you can use with learners. This appears in two versions: a pdf version which cannot be altered and a Word version so that you can change the information or the image according to your tradition.
  • A bank of images of copyright-free yoga poses that you can download to make your own resources. These can be printed off in various sizes to suit your purpose.
  • A bank of copyright-free images that you can use in sessions with older learners, or to encourage them to exercise at home. These can be printed off in various sizes to suit your purpose.

These resources relate to the theme Improving teaching and learning, especially Challenges, and to the theme Planning learning and reviewing progress.
