Step 3 - using the information
Collate key information that you have gathered from learners on a 'class profile'. Keep this in your register, so that you can see at a glance what health issues you need to take into account in planning sessions.
This will also be useful for any tutor who has to substitute for you.
Make sure that the headings on your class profile match with the headings on the readiness-to-exercise questionnaire. This section includes a template for a class profile that you can customise to suit each of your groups.
Use the class profile to guide you in deciding on suitable alternatives, adaptations and progressions for specifc learners. Note these in your session plans.
Using a class profile has a further advantage; it means that the initial screening forms can be stored securely elsewhere. However, your register and class profile must also be stored somewhere where they can only be accessed on a 'need-to-know' basis by authorised personnel, for example, you or a substitute tutor. If this is not the situation where you currently teach, you need to discuss with your manager how safeguards can be introduced.
