Issues - audit trails

You and your employer have a legal duty of care towards learners. Whatever screening procedure you choose, you must record the information you have gathered and learners must confirm in writing that they have been consulted. An audit trail is essential to show that you have taken your duty of care seriously.

At a personal level, if you do not pay due care and attention to learners' safety, you may be sued. In your own interests you need professional indemnity insurance and to get this you must confirm that you carry out readiness-to-exercise screening with all learners.
