A mystery to solve

You can use this activity with intermediate to advanced learners. They undertake different tasks and play different roles in order to solve the mystery.

It uses all the four language skills, and can involve the learners in some research in between sessions. The example given is based on an art theft. It can be translated into the taught language and adapted for any appropriate context.

Be aware of your learners' sensitivities and cultural backgrounds when preparing this activity.

Bear in mind that some of your learners may need to develop their language, literacy and numeracy skills. If you are new to Skills for Life, this site is a useful general starting point for you to explore. The section on teaching and learning gives a good overview of the Skills for Life agenda. If you are already involved in Skills for Life, you may find it useful to receive the regular updates from the site.
