Landmark

This activity is aimed at beginners, although it can be extended for learners with more advanced skills. It involves reading instructions, asking questions and using authentic materials such as maps, TV and the Internet. Be aware that learners whose literacy skills are at Level 1 or below may need some support with basic English grammar in order to understand, for example, past, present and future tenses.

You can encourage learners' intercultural awareness by choosing landmarks with different social or cultural significance; for example, restaurants, places of worship, and sports venues.

In this activity, tutors may need to be sensitive to the possible literacy, language and numeracy (LLN) needs of their learners.
