Tree of learning

The Tree of learning activity is about finding out why learners come to learn information technology (IT) and how tutors can make it relevant for them.

  • Do your learners spend sufficient time exploring what they want to learn and then checking their progress?
  • Do your learners spend too much time isolated on their personal computers (PCs), with few opportunities to work in groups?
  • Do they just learn particular applications (such as word-processing or spreadsheets) or do they learn them to apply them for their own purposes?

The Tree of learning package will help you arrive at positive answers to these and related questions. You will be able to adjust your practice to meet learners' needs more closely. Even if ICT is not your specialist subject, you will find good ideas here to apply to your own work.
