Use of the taught language
This resource reinforces the advantages of using the taught language with learners at all levels.
Find out how to build up use of the taught language so that learners who are resistant are encouraged to adopt it. Also find out how the use of language and the allocation of tasks can be differentiated so that all learners can operate at their full potential.
This resource supports the theme 'Improving teaching and learning'. It embeds equality and diversity by giving an indication of some of the advantages and disadvantages of using the taught language in order to encourage and support adult learners of different backgrounds and abilities.
Use the notes to develop effective use of the taught language in your sessions. They can be read in conjunction with the tutor resources linked from this page, and with many of the activities in the QIA National Teaching and Learning Change Programme (NTLCP) MFL resources.
The notes could be used as the basis for experiential learning, for example a session for tutors to learn a totally unknown language by use of the taught language.
Further development will involve more ambitious differentiation such as using the tutor resources, A mystery to solve and court case, and exploring other resources such as the soap opera activity in the QIA NTLCP MFL Inspirational toolkit.
